Meet Atsushi Sugimoto, Founder
Atsushi Sugimoto is a videographer and photographer based in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, bringing a distinctly cinematic eye to Canada’s North.
Born in Nagano and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Atsushi’s deep fascination with northern wild places began early on, fueled by wildlife and studio photography. This lifelong pursuit ultimately led him to the Yukon in 2011, where he shifted his focus from stills into high-quality motion work.
As the founder of Arctic Media Creation, he is the force behind the camera, leveraging his diverse skill set in filmmaking, producing, camera and drone operation, audio recording, and expert digital colour adjustment. His work is driven by a genuine mission: to capture the North’s breathtaking landscapes and authentic lifestyles.
Atsushi’s commitment to visual excellence has earned him recognition both locally and internationally, including a grand prize win at the 2019 First Light Image Festival Photo Contest. His portfolio includes high-profile contributions, such as footage featured on the BBC and photography in Canadian Geographic, alongside extensive, trusted work for local Yukon businesses, government projects, and the Canadian TV industry.
